Rock Wall Climbing

Climb through Swaner's ecosystem from the bedrock to the uplands on our indoor climbing wall! Fun for all ages, the wall is open select weekends. $5/person.

Child Sociology

William Corsaro's text book The Sociology of Childhood, said for many years studies did not focus on children because sociologists and researchers did not view them as contributors to society.  However, at BOOP Preschool, children are valued as important members and contributors to the community.   I do believe that researchers will find the elixir of youth is in children. We have only started to understand their super strength. They are truly wonderful beings.

Becoming You on Apple TV

Becoming You on Apple TV

I highly encourage watching this show with babies and toddlers. It is the best way to introduce children to others from around the world, and early exposure to diversity benefits them in many ways. 

Exposing children to diversity at a young age fosters crucial social and cognitive skills. It builds empathy and respect for different backgrounds, improves problem-solving abilities and cognitive flexibility, and normalizes inclusivity. This significantly reduces the development of stereotypes and biases as children grow. 

We will be using this show in class to enhance our lessons. For example, in Season 1, Episode 3 ("The Making of Me") and Episode 6 ("Moving"), a little boy figures out how to open a coconut. We recreated this activity in class—though, unlike the 3-year-old in Borneo, we did not use a machete!
